Abe Perea is a political consultant and grassroots organizer whose work is focused toward community collaboration and liberation. Driven by a devotion to equity, justice and joy, Abe centers their personal and professional life around the mantra “I am, because we are.” This practice, rooted within their experience as a Queer, First-Generation, Person of Color, has allowed them to become one of the most prodigious and versatile political professionals in the State.
Beginning their journey of service as Chief of Staff for the Denver-Chapter of March For Our Lives; Abe was instrumental in organizing the financial, political, public messaging, and personnel logistics for the third largest march in the country with over 100,000 attendants. Abe scored a further victory after working with Moms Demand Action and EveryTown for Gun Safety, to pass the Red Flag bill in 2019.
In Fall 2018, Abe began attending the University of Denver as a double-major in International Studies and Psychology. Their coursework focused on the complex intersectional applications of politics, cultural rhetoric, and social justice movements. With support from many professors, Abe had the opportunity to manage key media interactions for the esteemed Greta Thunberg during her 2019 visit to Denver. Further inspired, and recognizing the importance of the 2020 Election, Abe left DU to continue best serving the communities they love.
Shortly after, Abe joined the MikeBloomberg2020 Campaign. As Regional Organizing Director for Boulder County, Abe led one of the most successful offices in the state, outperforming in surrogate-voter interaction and candidate turnover. Abe also worked closely with Ari Ackerman and others to create correspondence between the campaign and local Jewish communities, to which they have deep ties. This work cascaded into a widening of Abe’s skill and experience as an independent consultant. As such, they worked with a small media agency, a Charter School interest group, and a national solar company in Austin, Texas. While in Austin, Abe led the research and implementation of a pilot program replicated across six additional cities and directed strategy and implementation of an operating model that grew private and public market exposure; generating $1M+ in leads from community engagement.
After the initial Covid19-Pandemic, Abe began work at Lyda Strategies, a firm whose mission is to expand access to high quality consulting services to mission-driven organizations and candidates. At Lyda, Abe advised on progressive grassroots organizing, social justice nonprofits, candidate & ballot initiative campaigns, and strategic planning for underrepresented Colorado voices.
Further successes over four statewide campaigns, one Congressional campaign, two state houses, four counties and over a dozen nonprofits have placed Abe at the nexus of being in tune with the public's needs, and the means to begin to address them. Today, Abe continues to build off of these, acting as primary strategist for VOICE where they guide community engagement, grassroots operations and management, as well as grant writing, field management, and field finance.
